3.OA.A.1 I can show that 5 x 7 = 35 really means 5 groups of 7 equals a total of 35.
3.OA.A.2 I can show that when I divide I am either sharing or grouping (finding how many in each group or how many groups.)3.OA.A.2 I can multiply (0 through 10) and divide numbers to solve word problems representing arrays, equal groups, and measured quantities (number line).
*I can multiply 3 factors in any order (associative property of multiplication.) When solving 3x5x2=a, I can multiply 3x5, then 15x2 or 5x2, then 10 x3. Either way I get 30. *I can split apart a factor to make 2 easier equations (distributive property). Knowing that 8 × 5 = 40 and 8 × 2 = 16, one can find 8 × 7 as 8 × (5 + 2) = (8 × 5) + (8 × 2) = 40 + 16 = 56.
